Experienced horse enthusiasts who want a challenging ride in spectacular scenery will love what Ricochet’s FastTrek vacations have to offer.  Designed for confident riders who already have, or want to develop, cross-country riding skills and who seek to develop a deeper understanding of classical riding principles, FastTrek packages match riders with fit, responsive horses and provide access to trails that aren’t accessible to the public.  Some of the best conditioning for horse and rider is available on mountainous terrain and the compacted sand of Pacific beaches.

FastTreks are 3 or 4-day vacation packages that include lodging, breakfast, and picnic lunches on the trail.  Guests can set their own pace, confident that they will not be slowed down by less experienced riders.  All FastTreks guides are competitive riders with years of experience, who know Ricochet horses and trails.  If requested, guides can offer instruction on the trail to assist riders in honing their cross-country or endurance skills.  As a bonus, riders interested in dressage or show jumping can arrange to spend some of their vacation in the arena, working with our head instructor on those disciplines.

FastTreks allow riders to set their own itinerary for each day’s ride. Ricochet guests can ride for a week without repeating a trail, so you’ll have lots of options. On the first day of your vacation, you will meet and bond with your horse, test your tack, take a shakedown ride through MacKerricher Park and on Ten Mile Beach, and talk with your guide about your goals and expectations.  You will plan out Day 2 and 3 (or 2, 3, and 4) and decide how long you want to ride each day, how challenging you want the trail to be, and where you would like to stop for a picnic lunch.  Although FastTrek riders usually want to spend every possible minute in the saddle, there’s plenty of time for a lunch stop each day in a beautiful picnic spot.

Lodging for your vacation will be at one of several wonderful local accommodations.  When you book your FastTrek, we can discuss your lodging preferences and offer you a choice of hotels.  We can also arrange non-riding activities like kayaking, fishing excursions, and wine tours.

Give us a call or send an email to start the process of planning your FastTrek vacation.  We have reservations available throughout the year.  2017 prices for 3 day FastTrek guest are $1485 – $1575 per person, depending on your choice of lodging.  That price includes breakfast, lunch, room, all riding and riding instruction, and tax.  4 day packages are $1980 – $2100 per person.

We require a 20% deposit to secure reservations.  Your deposit is fully refundable if you cancel at least 7 days in advance of your scheduled arrival.
